Transitions

Transitions
1. Identify and describe the different types of transitions used in film/video making:
-The Cut: It is suttle and quick an it is the point where two shots come together. It can frequently be placed whithin a single scene or what different shots the director wants to
be seen on screen.
-The Fade: There is fade in (start of the beginning of a sequence of film), and fade out to b
lack (marks the end of the film or sequence). The focus is being moved from one scene to another.
-The Dissolve: A visual smooth transition between one or more shots or scenes. Or the b
lending of two shots to communicate a passage of time and/or location. ex. ripple dissolve, cross dissolve.

2. What questions should you ask yourself before you place a transition in your film/video?
- Do I need a transition at this point?
- What transition will visually enhance my story-line?
- What transition will visually detract from my story?

3. How might you use these transitions in your particular animation?
We might use these transitions in our particular animation because transition can be used to show the passage of time or location. Because we are doing an stop-motion animation we can use cuts to show one picture to another and we can also use dissolve in between scenes of the animation. Finally, we can use fade in and fade out to start and end our animation.
